I always try to pick up on news stories on the radio or TV that mention habits. Yesterday I heard one from the BBC’s radio 2 news report on the things you need to do in your life to live longer. It turns out that the habits you have during MID Life contribute the most towards your eventual health and life expenditure. The report was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (

The report studied a large group of men for over 40 years and decided what the factors were from the beginning of the study that allowed a certain percentage of the group to reach what was called Exceptional survival i.e. reaching an age of at least 75 years of age with all your faculties intact and without incidence of any one of 6 major chronic diseases.
